Where to find cookery and patisserie classes in Paris Region?

Cookery classes in Paris, the ultimate art

Have you always fancied becoming a true gourmet? Not just a food lover but a real cordon bleu chef? According to Auguste Gusteau in Ratatouille, anyone can cook. But to cook like a gourmet chef, you’ll probably need a little help. In Paris Region, there are plenty of classes where you can learn to cook, bake cakes or make pastries.

Workshops are popping up on the streets of every district, arrondissement and town, offering opportunities galore for would-be chefs. In the company of a famous chef, an expert in medieval cuisine or a star pâtissier, you’ll learn all the ins and outs of making delicious dishes worthy of MasterChef. And even if you’re no novice in this art, there are classes for you as well. Just imagine being able to go home with the savoir-faire of a top French chef!

Cookery classes or workshops, whichever tickle your fancy

There’s more than one way to learn to cook. All you have to do is find the method that suits you best, then go and sign up. In Paris Region, no two cookery lessons are the same. It doesn’t matter whether you choose traditional classes or special workshops. Either way, cookery and pastry making will hold no more secrets for you.

You may find yourself, for example, visiting the markets of the capital and the surrounding area, before taking to the kitchen. The chefs will then help you to cook sweet or savoury dishes from the ingredients you’ve just purchased.

In Rungis, you’ll also get a tour of the premises before the class begins. At the École des arts Culinaires Lenôtre, you’ll first meet the suppliers and get to know their products, before using them in your cooking. At Provins, you can sign up for a whole range of classes. The medieval cookery, zero waste and even local cuisine workshops at Les Tabliers Gourmands take you off the beaten tracks of traditional cookery classes.

You may of course prefer to opt for the simplest way of learning. Grab your apron, follow the chefs’ explanations and prepare dishes that could be served in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

But all of these classes do have one thing in common - they all end with the inevitable tasting of the final result. This has to be the best part, or at least the tastiest. In some cases it takes place at the class itself, while in others you take the dishes away to enjoy at home.

Paris Region’s workshops are great gifts, made for sharing

Cooking is all about sharing, so why not share your experience with others? Paris Region has solutions for you and your friends, family or children. You can even make a private booking to benefit from a class just for your group.

And your loved ones would be delighted to join one of the Paris Region’s cookery workshops. For a friend who enjoys good food, pastries or wines, this is a gift that really hits the spot.

Classes in cookery, patisserie or even oenology: Paris Region invites you into the world of French gastronomy

Fancy joining a workshop at one of Paris Region’s prestigious cookery schools?

If you’ve always dreamt of working in the kitchens of a luxury hotel in Paris, here’s your chance. Sign up at the Ritz. Learn the essentials of French cuisine at the École Ritz Escoffier, by joining a cookery or patisserie workshop. You’ll learn to prepare sophisticated dishes ranging from foie gras to various meat, poultry and even seafood specialities. You can also become an expert in cakes, pastries and other delicious desserts, under the guidance of experienced chefs.

The Ecole Ferrandi is one of the most prestigious cookery schools in France. It trains the culinary elite on the 3rd floor of the Galeries Lafayette Maison & Gourmet, but there’s also a Ferrandi Paris cookery workshop there, that you too can join. Because dessert is among the delights of our culture, the chefs will show you the way to French patisserie at its best. You’ll discover the secrets behind Paris-Brest cake or lemon tart. Whatever your preference, this comprehensive class has it covered, and anyone can join. And the final tasting? At home, to prolong the pleasure.

A patisserie class for children and adults?

Who says children can’t cook? The KL Pâtisserie organises patisserie workshops for children. After all, didn’t most Michelin-starred chefs start at an early age? Children aged 12 years and up can learn to master this art like a professional by joining a workshop conducted under the direct guidance of the chef.

Spend two hours learning to make the great classics of French patisserie, or opt for the 3-hour workshop to try your hand at more elaborate specialities like cocoa crumble tart. Your experience may not result in a professional pastry-chef qualification, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll have mastered the knowledge and techniques of a true pâtissier.

Would you like to learn the art of baking in English?
