Sir Winston Churchill
Description
The spirit of an English pub combined with the atmosphere of an Indian restaurant is what the Sir Winston Churchill offers in its completely renovated brasserie. A bright, open space with a contemporary elegance in Paris's 8th arrondissement.
And there was light
How do you restore glamour to an old, dusty place? That's the challenge taken up by the Sir Winston. Farewell to the worn leather sofas, worn floorboards and wooden décor that made one of the oldest English pubs in the capital a place as charming as it was old-fashioned. Hello light, hello immaculate frontage and terrace overlooking the city! Under the impetus of architect Laura Gonzalez, the pub has been transformed into a warm, lively and stylish place to live.
The talented Anglo-Indian chef Manoj Sharma is the main inspiration. He brilliantly reinvents the classics English pub and the spicy flavours of Delhi. A stone's throw from the Arc de Triomphe, the disorientation is total and it doesn't stop there.
A spirit of prohibition in a hidden bar
It's a secret we can't keep to ourselves: the Sir Winston hosts a speakeasy bar, a reminder of the venue's former identity. Its name, the Doris Bar, comes from Churchill's sultry lover. Against a backdrop of jazz and electro music, in a cosy atmosphere, you can sip the creations of talented mixologists, while the menu, again designed by the Chef Sharma, will propel you into a surprisingly exotic place. On the menu: naans cooked to perfection in the tandoor oven, old cheddar croquettes and scotch egg. So tasty, isn't it?
The Doris Bar hasn't quenched your thirst for discovery? Now it's time to discover our selection of the best cocktail bars in Paris Region.
