Description

A short distance from the Palais de Tokyo and the Place du Trocadéro, immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Asian art. Founded in 1889 by Emile Guimet, a manufacturer from Lyon, the Guimet Museum traces 5,000 years of history. The distant travels that took this art lover through China, Japan, India and Pakistan allowed him to assemble the precious collections of art which are today presented in one of the largest museums entirely devoted to Asian arts in Europe.

Invaluable works

Stroll through the elegantly designed spaces bathed in natural light to discover the selection of some 4,000 works including Chinese sculptures and porcelain, an Angkor Buddha and a 17th-century samurai armour, which is sure to fascinate children. The museum also offers a cycle of temporary exhibitions that take you on a voyage of discovery. To deepen your knowledge, enjoy one of the guided tours offered every Saturday.

Continue your journey through the East with a visit to the Panthéon Bouddhique with its Japanese garden, just 2 minutes away on foot. It belongs to the Guimet Museum, as does the Ennery Museum, located on Avenue Foch, which holds a unique collection of objects from Japan (visits by reservation only).

Terrace with a view

For the second year running, the Guimet Museum is opening its panoramic terrace for the summer, a rooftop with a unique architecture that makes you feel like you're on the deck of a boat. From the 3rd floor, enjoy an exceptional view of the roofs of Paris and the Eiffel Tower which rises majestically in front of you.

Your visit continues in the museums and cultural sites in Paris Region.
