Palais de Tokyo
Description
Adjacent to the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris and open until midnight every Thursday, the Palais de Tokyo is a standout in the capital’s museum scene, an exceptionally dynamic home for contemporary art. Exhibitions, performances and residencies all coexist in this unique space. It is a space to learn, to experience, to feel, and to live – a space from which the unexpected springs forth.
Art in the Making
Stepping through the entrance of the magnificent Art Deco building, the interior built from steel and concrete is raw and unadorned. There is no permanent collection, but rather a rich programme that explores all realms of artistic expression – from performance to fashion to arts and crafts and more, and including special activities for children. Dedicated to both emerging and established artists, the Palais de Tokyo’s programme is punctuated by thematic and monographic exhibitions, large-scale artistic interventions, and carte blanche invitations to artists who take over the entirety of the space. Each season is accompanied by new transformations within the building, as artists welcome visitors into the heart of their practice, renewing their relationship to art.
Hip outings, quirky nights
Take a gourmet break at Bambini, the Palais de Tokyo's "cantina" and its italian flavours. This popular, festive and timeless neo-cantina is a temple for evenings with friends, family brunches and business lunches, at lunchtime and in the evening.
The huge site is home to other destinations. On the Seine side, take advantage of the incredible view of the Eiffel Tower on offer from the tables of Monsieur Bleu, the site’s second restaurant. Night-owls will appreciate the alternative nights at Yoyo, the basement club.
Your visit of the museums and cultural sites is far from over!
