Description

Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? The Museum of Man answers all of these questions about our species (and more) with a display that combines biology, philosophy and anthropology, but especially history and modernity.

An Interactive Experience

The museum offers its visitors the opportunity for total immersion. From the skulls of Cro-Magnon and Descartes to a surprising gallery of busts dating from the 19th century, the permanent collection presents humankind in all its facets: art, language and laughter… But it also takes a look at humanity’s future; audio documents, interactive screens and tactile experiences contribute to make this a resolutely modern museum experience. Temporary exhibitions offer up new perspectives on the evolution of our societies, while a treasure room brings together four prehistoric wonders – to be explored in the dark.

A Historic Space

Set within the historic Palais de Chaillot, the Musée de l’Homme’s setting is breathtaking. Different museum spaces are combined, so exhibition visitors may also get the chance to observe the museum’s anthropologists and palaeontologists at work. To round off a captivating day, you can raise a glass to the Eiffel Tower from the spectacular terrace at the museum’s own Café de l’Homme before entering the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine (Museum of French Monuments) just next door.
