Musée Cernuschi
Description
In 1896, the financier Henri Cernuschi bequeathed to the city of Paris his beautiful mansion built on the edge of Monceau Park and his collection of Far Eastern art acquired during his two-year world tour.
Thus the museum, one of the oldest in Paris, today has a remarkable collection of ancient Chinese art, but also Japanese, Vietnamese or Korean, regularly enriched by new acquisitions and donations: Neolithic pottery, funerary statuary, as well as a very beautiful collection of Chinese classical and modern paintings.
Artistic testimonies
Your visit goes through several centuries and dynasties of aesthetic prowess, going from the 15th century BC until the 13th century.
As soon as you arrive, you are welcomed by the famous Buddha of Megura who, imperturbable, has been enthroned for more than a century in the middle of a large room with large windows. The 900 pieces of art on display, including a selection of ceremonial jade objects dating from 3000 B.C., highly worked bronzes from the Shang era and unique ceramics detailing everyday life in ancient China, offer you a unique panorama of Far Eastern art.
The museum also offers a program of temporary exhibitions that will allow you to perfect your knowledge.
Asia and its cultures will have no more secrets for you !
