Description

At no. 5 Rue de Sedaine, the *Da Vito* pizzeria has something to hide. We don’t mean a jealously guarded tomato sauce recipe, but a more forbidden secret. Behind a door that appears to lead to a cold store, you'll find the Moonshiner speakeasy bar, a favourite haunt of jazz fans, cocktail lovers and whisky drinkers.

Prohibition in Paris

Back to 1925. People refrain from the euphoria of partying because of prohibition. But they say that, somewhere in Paris, very close to the Bastille, there’s a haunt for souls who long for high-quality beverages.

Prohibition was an entirely American affair, which makes this a purely fictional scenario. But at the Moonshiner bar, there’s nothing unauthentic about the taste of the drinks! We won’t bother to mention their list of cocktails, because it changes on a regular basis. But all of the bar’s creations have two things in common: meticulous imagination and formidable technique.

Every time the list is updated, the different cocktails are all linked by a common theme. After adding a personal twist to the great classics, sent our tastebuds on a trip to the seaside resorts of France and taken inspiration from the low-cost restaurants of Paris, Moonshiner’s is currently paying a tribute to the bartenders who have performed their art here.

The selection also includes bourbons and whiskies for fans of deep, woody flavours. Not forgetting the beers and soft drinks, if spirits are not your cup of tea.

An eye for detail that leads to success

The Moonshiner bar is a favourite venue for those in search of quality, as well as music lovers and the just curious. The bar’s intimate atmosphere and the impression that you’re doing something forbidden seem to make your cocktail even tastier. The well-designed decor is packed with details that make it hard to tell whether you’re in the past or the present. The flecked decoration, leather sofas, Art Deco wallpaper and subdued lighting make the perfect setting for the bartenders who never hesitate to wear their best braces. And if the atmosphere isn’t enough to plunge you into the 1920s, try attending one of the jazz nights hosted here regularly.

Since 2013, the Moonshiner bar has lost nothing of its popularity. This wonderful suggestion comes from the team at Liquid Corp, who are well-versed on the topic. This is the same group that created the Dirty Dick which serves only exotic cocktails, and the Orange Mécanique bar, inspired by the Stanley Kubrick film, Clockwork Orange.
