Lavomatic
Description
Paris is full of speakeasy, these hidden bars inspired by the prohibition era in the United States. We knew about the one hidden behind the kitchen doors of a large hotel, the other one hidden behind a tapas bar, but the Lavomatic is particularly picturesque because it is nestled on the first floor of a laundromat.
A few steps from Place de la République, this cocktail bar hides its game nicely. At first glance, we can see washing machines, tumble dryers and other pod dispensers. But at the back of the room, you will find a small button that reveals a staircase leading to the first floor, in a small apartment transformed into a cosy bar, joyfully colourful and ideal for exchanges. Here, carelessly seated on pop benches or on a swing, you can savour inventive cocktails made with fresh products (from 9 euros), wines from small producers and tasty gourmet boards to share.
