Description
At Du Pain et des Idées, tradition and authenticity are driving forces. The shop, located near the Canal Saint-Martin, boasts 1900s-style décor in a recognised historic building.
Christophe Vasseur, named the best baker in Paris by the gourmet magazine GaultMillau in 2008, spends time and attention on his goods and on preparing his dough. Because of his old-school methods and perfect execution, Christophe Vasseur attracts people from miles around to come experience his specialities.
Both crisp and melt-in-your-mouth, the famous “pain des amis” has a truly unique smoky flavour. There are many other specialities for you to try, too, like the orange blossom brioche, the chocolate & pistachio escargot pastry, and the fresh apple turnover. The restrained and efficient selection favours quality over quantity, but never at the cost of creativity.
This beautiful space and the passionate artisan behind it have led to a taste you can’t find anywhere else!
