Description
The Domaine La Bouche du Roi is a vibrant tribute to the art of living in the Yvelines and to the tradition of wine at the Court of the Sun King. La Bouche du Roi is the leading professional wine estate in the Paris region, with 26 hectares of organic vines. Located 30 km from Paris, La Bouche du Roi is reviving its age-old traditions.
Domaine de La Bouche du Roi: a wine-tourism getaway in the Yvelines region
Domaine La Bouche du Roi takes its name from a tradition dating back to 1588, when the sommeliers and cupbearers of the cour de Versailles guaranteed the quality of the wines served to the kings of France.
The estate continues this tradition of excellence by producing top-quality organic wines.
Adrien Pélissié, Julien Bengué and Julien Brustis opted for the North by setting up a vineyard on the plain of Versailles. The aim: to produce balanced wines from grape varieties whose need for heat and sunshine is just met by the local climate, in order to develop a unique typicity.
Blending tradition and modernity, La Bouche du Roi embodies the renaissance of the Paris Region wine identity and is rewriting its history from scratch, with solid savoir-faire and an idea of wine that is resolutely of its time.
A visit and wine tourism activities for wine and history lovers
When you visit the estate, you'll discover a picturesque landscape with vines stretching across a plateau at an altitude of 140 metres, offering good exposure to the wind and protecting the grapes from spring frosts.
The guided tour will enable you to understand the winemaking process and taste the different cuvées produced on site. The first vintages of Chardonnay, Chenin, Merlot and Pinot Noir allow you to discover the typicity of the local terroir with great French grape varieties vinified separately.
The estate also offers a range of wine-tourism activities, including tastings and wine discovery workshops. You can also explore the charming village of Davron, with its stone houses and Romanesque church, before returning to the estate.
France's iconic Île-de-France region is not only the beating heart of the country in terms of culture and history, but also a gastronomic treasure trove. Here's an overview of the local products that are the pride of this region.
