Description
Nestled in Thomery, near Fontainebleau forest, south of Paris, the Château de By became the artist Rosa Bonheur's studio in the 19th century. Restored and transformed into a museum with a tea room and guest room, this beautiful building traces the world of this extraordinary feminist artist and invites you to take a break.
In the former stables of the château, a charming tea room is revealed. Snuggled up in a large Second Empire armchair by the fire, under the hundred-year-old trees of the park or under the large sunny glass roof, in any season, enjoy a tea accompanied by a pastry.
To perpetuate tradition and honour Rosa Bonheur's love of nature, the cuisine is marked by the seal of sustainable development. The organic products come mostly from the orchard or the vegetable garden and the recipes are straight out of the cookbook of Céline, Rosa Bonheur's faithful cook, such as Muses' Cake with chocolate and violet or Rosa Bonheur, a 19th century cake with raspberry, grapefruit and rose.
On Sundays, you will also love The Empress Brunch, in homage to Impress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III who personally awarded the Legion of Honour to the hostess.
Reservations are highly recommended!
To complete this moment of happiness, take advantage of the château for a well-deserved weekend, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
