Bois de Boulogne

Bois de Boulogne

With its large gardens, lakes and numerous areas for outdoor activities, the vast Bois de Boulogne is a favourite place for Parisians to relax, for both sporting types and those who just want to enjoy nature.

  1. What to see and do
  2. A breath of fresh air
  3. Nature spots and forests
  4. Bois de Boulogne

Description

Larger than Central Park or Hyde Park, this former hunting ground of the kings of France is today western Paris’s urban oxygen source. It includes several sites such as the Parc de Bagatelle, the 3-Michelin star restaurant Le Pré Catelan, the Jardin d’Acclimatation amusement park and the Serres d’Auteuil greenhouses. The most recent addition, the spectacular Louis Vuitton Foundation for contemporary art, designed by Frank Gehry, evokes the sails of a fabulous ship.

There are many different paths through the woods, whether you want to go for a walk, discover the local fauna and flora, or go for a jog. In terms of activities, from fishing to rowing and pony rides, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. For a truly unique experience, join the crowds to watch a horse race at the Auteuil or Longchamp racecourses.
