Description
The Cinémathèque française pays tribute to one of the most emblematic filmmakers of our time: Wes Anderson. Running until 27 July 2025, the exhibition retraces the exceptional career of this extraordinary director, from his beginnings in the 90s with ‘Bottle Rocket to his most recent works such as ‘Asteroid City ’.
This retrospective, the first of its kind, is a veritable immersion in Anderson's unique universe. It brings together almost 500 items, including costumes, sets, storyboards and cult objects, all of which bear witness to the meticulousness and originality of his work. Each object on display tells a story, somewhere between dream and reality, and provides an insight into the inner workings of Anderson's creative process.
This visual journey is also an emotional plunge into Anderson's world. His films, often tinged with melancholy, question time, childhood and the past with a touching naivety. This exhibition captures all the poetry and depth of his work.
An international collaboration
Produced in partnership with London's Design Museum and American Empirical Pictures, this exhibition is the fruit of an international collaboration. It highlights the close collaborations that enabled Anderson to develop his unique style. From Roman Coppola, with whom he co-wrote rich scripts, to Alexandre Desplat, who composed spellbinding scores, each contribution is highlighted.
