The Ball of the Century

More than 100 years ago, in 1923, the magnificent wooden floors of the château de Versailles vibrated under the feet of the guests of the Fête Merveilleuse in honour of the end of its restoration.

On 9 December 2024, the château will once again be at its finest, hosting the second edition of the Bal du Siècle** in the sumptuous Gallery of Great Battles, an exceptional event that will transport participants back to the glamorous atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties.

An unforgettable evening in the Roaring Twenties

The "Ball of the Century" promises an evening full of entertainment and surprises. Guests will be able to dance to music ranging from Viennese waltzes to the frenzied rhythms of the Charleston, as well as American jigs, fantasies, Pol Jones, animal dances and other ballrooms dances that will be explained on the night by the professional dancers of the Carnet de Bals group. You don't need to be an experienced dancer. Dress up in your best clothes, ball gowns or outfits inspired by the Roaring Twenties for the ladies and dinner jackets and bow ties for the gentlemen, and let yourself be carried away by the music and the tempo.

A journey through time

After passing through the King's Grand Apartments, you can also watch a dance performance in the famous Hall of Mirrors. In the Queen’s Grand Apartments, actors will invite you to take part in activities inspired by the Roaring Twenties.
The Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal will perform a short musical programme of in one of the most beautiful rooms in the château, offering a truly enchanted interlude.

A dazzling fireworks display

No party at the Château de Versailles would be complete without a firework display. Guests will be able to admire this magnificent spectacle under the gold of the Hall of Mirrors. And like Cinderella's carriage, the ball will transform at the stroke of midnight into a modern evening with contemporary music in the Gallery of Great Battles, promising an unforgettable after party.
