Description
2025 is the year of the reopening of the Grand Palais. And what could be more prestigious than haute couture to celebrate this rebirth?
Like a love letter to Italian fashion and culture, the exhibition From Heart to Hand: Dolce&Gabbana is one of this year's key events.
Dolce&Gabbana: from Italy to the world
Since the creation of their brand in Milan in 1985, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have imposed their singular vision of fashion. Inspired by their Sicilian roots, they have fashioned an aesthetic that blends Mediterranean traditions, baroque opulence and modernity.
Their reputation extends beyond the catwalk: Dolce&Gabbana is 40 years of creation celebrating Italian craftsmanship. Their collaboration with local artisans, from embroiderers to jewellers, is at the heart of their approach. In 2022, their know-how was exhibited in Milan, attracting thousands of visitors. Now it's Paris's turn to discover this unusual exhibition, from the heart (where ideas are born) to the hand (where they are woven).
40 years of history over 1,200m2
Under the aegis of Florence Müller, whose work includes Yves Saint Laurent: Retrospective at the Petit Palais and Christian Dior: couturier du rêve at the MAD, more than 200 pieces are on display. Among them are emblematic couture creations, accessories and rare objects.
You can admire dresses from legendary fashion shows, such as the Autumn-Winter 2012 collection, inspired by the mosaics of Monreale, or historic costumes used in film productions.
Each section of the exhibition (10 rooms covering 1,200m2) highlights a theme dear to the House: Sicily as muse, the influence of the Baroque period, and the place of religious art. Exclusive archives, including original sketches, photographs and behind-the-scenes videos, will enrich the exhibition.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is the emphasis on the craftspeople involved in creating these masterpieces: embroiderers, metalworkers, goldsmiths, all part of a living heritage.
