Stéphane Mallarmé Museum
Description
Mallarmé deeply loved his "little house by the water" with which, in his own words, he "got engaged" and in which he spent many stays. Now a museum, it retains its charm of yesteryear and faithfully recreates the poet's daily life with his family, with his artist friends, such as the impressionist painters and nabis, and for some, neighbours, such as the photographer Paul Nadar.
In the intimacy of the Symbolist poet
In the rooms of the house: dining room, small Japanese cabinet, bedrooms… let yourself be charmed by all his knick-knacks, books, photographs, prints, engravings and paintings…
The pretty garden where Mallarmé liked to " make their toilet to the flowers before his own " contributes to the pleasure of the place. Restored in the spirit of the time, it invites you to daydream in the footsteps of the poet.
The museum, a place of living memory, participates throughout the year in major cultural events. It regularly hosts temporary exhibitions that complement the evocation of this exceptional writer who played a leading role in the intellectual and artistic life of his time.
Animations and recreational and friendly visits are also regularly organized.
