Roybet Fould Museum
Description
Located in the Bécon Park in Courbevoie, the Roybet Fould Museum is an exceptional and unique place both for its singular architecture and its rich history.
Listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 1987, the pavilion in Norwegian red pine evokes traditional Scandinavian architecture and bears witness to the first prefabricated constructions. The building was built entirely in Christiania (Oslo). It was then transported and exhibited in Paris in 1878 on the occasion of the World Exhibition, before being rebuilt in Courbevoie in 1879 following its purchase by the Romanian Prince Georges Stirbey.
The museum presents works from the 19th century, including those by the painters Consuelo Fould and his friend Ferdinand Roybet (1840-1920), as well as sculptures by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875), whose works can also be admired at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
