Description

The Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires of Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines is located in the old “New mill”, the family home of the Rohan-Guménées.
During your visit, you will discover a fragile regional heritage, one which is easy to forget, cast aside by current modernity, and the history of the community as the centuries pass, from the Gallo-Roman times to today.

The “minerals” room features a large collection of hard stones, diverse minerals and meteorites, while the “milling” room houses the remains of the wheel of the former mill as well as a reconstitution of the inside of a home from the end of the nineteenth century. A large exhibition of everyday objects is presented there, including an iron, lantern, doll and weaving loom.

This quirky little museum will refresh your memory on what life was like in the old days!
