MM6 Maison Martin Margiela

Yesterday, Martin Margiela; today, John Galliano: two enfants terribles of the fashion world have made this Paris fashion house a temple of iconoclasm and innovation.

Description

Martin Margiela is one of the most talented Belgian couturiers of his generation, learning his art at the famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. To this day, he remains a secretive figure, about whom we know almost nothing. His designs do his talking for him! After a spell working for Jean-Paul Gaultier, he founded his eponymous label in Paris in 1988, and remained at the helm until 2009. Over more than two decades, he made his name through sensational runway shows and indefinable lines, with a penchant for unstructured cuts, recycling and subversion, even when it came to his choice of materials. In short, Margiela became a byword for the avant-garde! And who better to take on his mantle than John Galliano? Since 2014, the former creative director of Dior, where he made the headlines for around twelve years, has had free rein to express his radical, trailblazing spirit, constantly reinventing the elegance of yesteryear and of today. Be it haute couture or prêt-à-porter, for men or for women, everything is unique!
