Description

In 1921, Maurice Ravel, who was looking for a pad at least thirty kilometres from Paris, bought Le Belvédère in Montfort-l’Amaury, which became his refuge and his place of meditation until his death in 1937. It was within the walls of this charming house on the edge of the Forest of Rambouillet, that the composer liked to entertain his many friends and wrote some of his most famous works: Boléro, Piano Concerto for the Left Hand and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges.

A born decorator, Maurice Ravel, having designed the garden himself, set about painstakingly decorating each little room of his house, transforming them into majestic settings for his knick-knacks, his books, his piano, … a vast collection of objects as precious as they were unusual. In the living room, coffee cups with holes in; on the piano, romantic boxes; in the library, a Chinese figure sticking his tongue out… you can discover all these curios and more on a pre-booked guided tour. The house is so small that a maximum of 6 people are allowed inside at once!
