Description
Founded in 1920, Marché Raspail has become one of the capital’s most popular markets. Pick up some superb fruit and vegetables straight from the plots of the region’s market gardeners and enjoy other products from around the world.
Located between rue du Cherche-Midi and rue de Rennes just a stone’s through from the Luxembourg Gardens, Raspail market and its stalls are a pleasure to visit on a Tuesday or Friday morning. There is a vast choice, with the traditional traders plying their wares alongside the sellers of Asian, Portuguese and Italian specialities. Since 1989, there has also been a 100% organic market on Sunday mornings with forty or so traders selling produce from organic farms, much to the delight of discerning shoppers.
Along Boulevard Raspail, you may even catch sight of the celebrities who come to fill their shopping bags with melons, tomatoes and other succulent treats. Fruit and vegetables, groceries, fish, meat, bread and cakes, delicatessen… the colours and scents of this wonderfully chic market are quite simply mouth-watering!
