Description

Keen to learn more about fishing and freshwater fish in the region? Then head for the Maison de la Pêche et de la Nature! It is found on Levallois’ Île de la Jatte, a site made famous by the Impressionist painters. It opened in 1993 as somewhere for children and adults to come and learn a bit more about aquatic habitats and environmental protection.

The glass and marble structure houses a 360° aquarama made up of 18 aquariums containing the kind of fish that swim in the Seine. There is also a touch tank where you can stroke a Siberian sturgeon or Koi carp. There is even a fishing school offering introductory and other courses for children aged 8–16.

Finally, nature events are regularly held in the park on Île de la Jatte, where instructors share their knowledge on ornithology or beekeeping with visitors. In summer, you can even sample the honey!

What better way to learn more about your environment?
