Description
Immerse yourself in lost worlds… Witness the emergence of life… Every naturalist or palaeontologist has had this inaccessible dream. Step through the doors of Eclipso in the heart of Bercy Village and prepare to take up the challenge. A plunge into the History of our Planet.
Virtual reality for culture, to the benefit of all
The research work and discoveries exhibited at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle give us a tiny glimpse of what humankind looked like before our era. Fossils, bones and rocks bear witness to our past, describing with as much acuity as possible a past life of which we still have so much to learn.
Today’s technological capabilities venture beyond the realm of the possible, pushing the boundaries of our knowledge of ancient times. Designed to be as accurate as possible, the ‘Life Chronicles experience‘ is the outcome of a close cooperation between Excurio, who came up with the concept of an immersive cultural experience, and the Museum's scientific committee, which validated every stage of the narrative.
A trip 3½ billion years back in time
What better way to understand our past then travelling back in time? With ‘Life Chronicles’, take a leap back to 3½ billion years ago to see life at its very beginnings. The Cretaceous era and dinosaurs spring immediately to mind, but these are only an infinitesimal part of the story. This expedition is an opportunity to find out, through a 9-part sequence, how our world evolved from the Earth’s formation to the present day. You’ll be awestruck by the palaeolithic landscapes that unfurl before your eyes, and get a close look at more than 120 animal species as well as over a hundred different plants… This voyage shows you the planet as you’ve never seen it before.
An immersive group expedition
Put on your virtual-reality headpiece and embark on an adventure. You’re no longer just a visitor, but a ‘palaeonaut’ on a 45-minute expedition in the company of a young researcher named Charlie and her robot, Darwin. In the 500 m² Geology and Mineralogy Gallery, you'll dive into the ocean depths, explore the immensity of tropical forests and see giant insects from the carboniferous period crawling between your feet, or pterosaurs flying above your head…
The Excurio technology brings you a concept that is unique in the world: that of allowing a large group of people to experience immersive expeditions simultaneously. So you can bring your friends or family to enjoy this expedition together. As it may frighten young children, this visit is authorised for children aged 8 and over
