Le Bar du Plaza Athénée
Description
Its magnificent Belle Epoque façade on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne has been a symbol of Parisian luxury since 1913. There is no need to book a deluxe suite to step inside the Plaza: its bar is open to the public… And where better than the hushed atmosphere of a hotel bar to appreciate the distinguished, confidential aura of such an iconic establishment? Don’t be intimidated by the luxurious lobby and galleries or the staff in all their livery as you enter. Just make your way to this intimate lair, reminiscent of a British gentlemen’s club and a Parisian salon in equal measure.
Renowned designer duo Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku gave the décor a facelift in 2014, mixing the refined old woodwork with highly contemporary touches, such as the bar made of transparent resin that looks like a kind of high-tech marble, and the extraordinary ceiling covered in a fabric whose voluptuous folds and deep blue colour create a hypnotic effect… The cocktail menu is, of course, perfectly in keeping with the general ambiance. As is the champagne!
