Open free to the public, this unique venue offers an immersive and instructive experience for all visitors.
Behind the scenes at the Elysée Palace
As soon as you enter 88 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, you are transported into a world where history comes to life. The Maison Élysée features a permanent exhibition tracing the development of the palais de l'Élysée since it was built in the early 18th century, through exceptional objects, portraits and videos. A virtual reality film plunges you into 300 years of history, taking you on a journey through the eras and transformations of this emblematic place, the official residence of the President of the French Republic since 1848.
The exhibition doesn't just present historical facts; it invites you to discover the trades and skills that make up the richness of the Élysée Palace. From archives to presidential gifts, each object tells its own story. In particular, you will be able to admire the original Louis XV desk made in 1740 by cabinetmaker Charles Cressent, as well as several artistic commissions from the Élysée Palace, including the one awarded to designer Pierre Paulin by President Georges Pompidou in 1972, and the new Council of Ministers table. These exceptional pieces from the collections of the Mobilier national bear witness to France's exceptional heritage.
A boutique showcasing French excellence
La Maison Élysée is also a showcase of French excellence, where craftsmanship and know-how take pride of place. Perhaps you'll find your next favourite among the products co-created with the marque Élysée, ranging from tableware and home decor to fashion and accessories.
Each piece is the fruit of an exclusive partnership with over 40 French brands symbolising the best of made in France. ‘These creations, some of which come from companies that have been awarded the ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ (EPV) label, illustrate the richness and diversity of the arts and crafts in France.
A gourmet break in elegant surroundings
After exploring the exhibition, treat yourself to a gourmet break in the Café de La Maison Élysée upstairs. Decorated by Sarah Lavoine, this convivial place welcomes you in a warm and refined atmosphere. Savour delicious pastries directly inspired by the presidential kitchens while enjoying a unique view of the Cour d'honneur of the Élysée Palace. It's the ideal place to relax and chat over a cup of coffee or tea.
The history of France is brought to life in the museums and monuments of Paris and its region.
