La Ferme du Buisson
Description
La Ferme du Buisson is one of those culture-packed places that you couldn’t even begin to define. Spanning 2,000m2, this peculiar place is a theatre, contemporary art centre, cinema, musical space and restaurant all rolled into one. It showcases all sorts of new art forms with infectiously joyous excitement, and you’re just as likely to see people visiting on their own or with their partners for an exhibition or gig as you are families coming for comic strip workshops.
Industrial heritage
The buildings themselves are right up there with the culture on offer and stand as a unique testament to Noisiel’s farming history. Buisson Farm used to belong to the Menier family, who made a name for themselves across France and beyond with their famous chocolate. The family owned a vast swathe of farmland and decided to rebuild the farm itself to reflect their much-loved industrial heritage and style, achieving a fantastic juxtaposition of late 19th-century architectural art and industrial practicality in the process.
Once a model farm, and subsequently a site for agricultural and technological innovation, today La Ferme du Buisson is a fantastic space for imagination, creation and discovery for people of all ages.
Paris Region's industrial heritage is reinventing itself. Here is a selection of 10 addresses.
