Description
A sunny seaside resort located one hour from Paris, l'Isle-Adam Beach offers swimming and seaside activities in a deliciously retro atmosphere.
Created in 1895 (though its development stretched over many years), this river beach, the largest in France, was originally an opportunity for families of the nobility and French bourgeoisie to enjoy some fun in the water at a holiday resort. Isle-Adam, located just outside the Regional Natural Park of the Vexin français on the banks of the Oise, has kept this old-fashioned, quirky charm that has helped it thrive.
The two swimming pools are located on the banks of this same river. One is surrounded by fine sand, while the other (known as the “records pool”) was broken in by Johnny Weissmuller, the famous Tarzan from 1930s cinema, for diving training. The decor takes you to another era, with its bathhouses modelled after the resorts in Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer, offering a unique look in this timeless locale. It was also the setting for many film shoots, including “Rue des Pairies” with Jean Gabin, “Partir Revenir” by Claude Lelouch and “Le secret” with Cécile de France and Patrick Bruel.
Between swimming sessions, lay your towel down on the lawn squares or the sand next to the pool and take some time to sunbathe. Many other athletic and leisure activities are also available on site: tennis, mini-golf, water slides, beach volleyball and table tennis. Children under the age of 7 can exercise themselves in a dedicated playground. The Oise offers plenty of opportunities for outings over the water by boat or pedalo, depending on your tastes.
