Komunuma - Fondation Fiminco
Description
Contemporary art galleries, emerging artists, the reserve collection of the Paris Region Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC), a fashion school, a vast exhibition space and a concert venue…all on an exceptional converted industrial site…That is the incredible offering that lies in store at Komunuma, the Esperanto word for “community”.
Located in the town of Romainville, right next to Pantin, which is already home to the Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery, and just 3 minutes from the nearest metro station, Komunuma is reinventing the Paris Region’s artistic and cultural landscape. Driven by the Fondation Fiminco, the project is based in a 46,000 m2 1940s architectural gem formerly occupied by the Roussel-Uclaf pharmaceutical laboratories. This neighbourhood entirely devoted to art and design is totally unique in France and one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Its ambition is to offer all audiences the chance to experience art and design through a high-quality artistic programme, meetings with artists in residence, and various free events. A unique opportunity to discover and discuss contemporary creation.
With Paddock, the outlet mall and food court, located just over the road, Komunuma is the perfect embodiment of what Greater Paris has to offer.
