I Love You Wall
Description
Paris is the world’s capital city of love! And to prove it, head for the Wall of Love (Le Mur des Je t’aime) at the foot of Montmartre to read “I love you” in a host of languages.
Having strolled through the charming neighbourhood of Montmartre and kissed your beloved at the foot of the Sacré-Coeur, declare your passion before the Wall of Love. In the heart of the Montmartre hill, in a leafy square, is the Parisian spot par excellence for souls in love. The wall was designed to be a link between people and nations. On a 40 m² fresco of blue enamelled lava, the phrase “I love you” is written at least 1,500 times, in more than 300 languages.
Frédéric Baron is the man behind the project: he decided to travel around the world without leaving Paris, just by asking his Portuguese, Russian or Turkish neighbours to write “I love you” on a piece of paper to create a work to the glory of Cupid.
From the most frequently heard languages like Spanish or English, to lesser known dialects like Basque, Corsican or Yiddish, the Wall of Love is the perfect backdrop for declaring your undying love to your one-and-only.
