Description
In Saint-Germain des Prés, a stone's throw from the Bon Marché Rive Gauche, you’ll find the largest independent children’s bookshop in Paris.
A veritable treasure trove, the Chantelivre bookshop is THE place to find books for children, from infants to teenagers. From big books to small books, illustrated books to noisy books, it’s impossible to leave this shop empty-handed; indeed its reputation has been well-established for more than 40 years.
At the entrance to the shop, large windows looking onto the Rue de Sèvres display new releases and popular titles, inviting passers-by to enter this temple of books and culture. Inside, no less than 50,000 titles await you, a large majority of which are from children’s publishers. Don't panic however, when making your selection you can rely on the sage advice of the booksellers, who know the shop inside out.
Under the light that filters through the large glass roof, allow yourself to be tempted by early learning books, stories, comic books, manga and novels of all kinds. There is even a room specifically dedicated to small children, and the bookshop also caters for rainy afternoons with its selection of games and entertainment. The children have even left a little space for adults!
To nurture enthusiasm for books, Chantelivre organises readings, concerts, author events and “storytime” sessions throughout the year. One thing’s for sure, your children will want to go back again and again!
