Description
Au Nain Bleu is the place to go for games and toys in the centre of Paris. The now-famous shop owes its name to the famous Nain Jaune (“yellow dwarf”) card game, as an indication of the treasures that you can find there. The in-house ethos is to offer only traditional toys which are among the finest examples of what European craftsmanship can offer. There are no plastic or electronic toys here; just the sort of beautiful items made of fabric, wood and metal that have always made children happy. The shelves contain iconic, timeless toys. Soft toys, dolls and toy lorries can be found alongside doctor’s kits, disguises and wooden animals. The slightly retro aspect is a reminder that play doesn’t follow any fashion.
This family brand, which has existed for more than 170 years, was originally located in the Opéra district before the major works started by Baron Haussmann under Napoleon III. It is now a stone’s throw from the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries, which are so popular with Parisian families.
Looking for a Christmas or birthday gift, or just want to treat yourself? Le Nain Bleu will be happy to share its best hints and tips with you, in line with the store’s motto: “Nothing is too beautiful for Le Nain Bleu”.
