Description
A universal icon
Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt, is much more than just a historical figure. She has become a mythe, an icon whose legend has spanned the centuries. The exhibition "The Mystery of Cleopatra ", presented at the Institut du monde arabe from 11 June 2025 to 11 January 2026, explores this duality between historical reality and fictional representations, offering a fresh look at this extraordinary sovereign. Through archaeological objects, works of art and historical documents, the exhibition traces Cleopatra's journey from her tumultuous reign to her place in the collective imagination.
A journey through time and cultures
The exhibition doesn't just showcase artefacts; it takes you on a journey through time and cultures. You'll be able to admire rare pieces from the Ptolemaic era, as well as contemporary creations inspired by the figure of Cleopatra. This dialogue between past and present will help you to better understand the lasting impact of this queen on our culture and our imagination.
Immersive scenography for a unique experience
To make this exploration even more captivating, the Institut du monde arabe has designed an immersive scenography. You will be transported into Cleopatra's world, with its sumptuous settings and captivating atmosphere.
