Description
Get out the disco balls, the Philharmonie de Paris is going to have you dancing again in 2025!
From 14 February to 17 August 2025**, the Philharmonie de Paris is hosting an exceptional exhibition devoted to the Disco era. **Disco, I'm Coming Out' celebrates the musical and cultural movement that emerged in the United States in the early 1970s and which rapidly became a worldwide phenomenon.
A journey through the history of Disco
The exhibition sheds light on the deep roots of this key musical genre of the seventies in black American history and culture, heir to soul, gospel and funk. Through a rich collection of audio-visual archives, photographs, instruments and costumes, you will discover the political and festive dimension of this music that brought together various minorities and social classes on the dance floor in a single hedonistic impulse.
To accompany this immersion, a specially mixed soundtrack by Dimitri from Paris will resonate throughout the exhibition, highlighting the unique aesthetic that disco has inspired in artists and designers.
Emblematic disco figures and innovations
The exhibition pays tribute to iconic disco figures such as Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Grace Jones, and visionary producers such as Giorgio Moroder and French drummer Cerrone.
It also explores the technical innovations that marked the era, such as the maxi 45, mixing and light shows, transforming nightclubs into veritable dream factories.
